RACE DETAILS

Race entries will be taken only online with Active Europe
Race 1 entries will be taken from the 4th May at 6pm. Race 2 entries will be taken from the 8th of May at 9am.

Race 1: Irish National Champs (10/40/5)
Race Briefing – 7.45am
Start - 8am
Prize Giving – 12:30pm

[NB You must present your ID and collect your timing chip at the officials tent 1 hour before your race starts. No late registrations will be accepted. No registration on the morning of the race.]

The Duathlon Championships will be a mass start event. The race will be a non-drafting event. It will be run on closed roads in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. In accordance with international race standards it will consist of a 10km run, a 40km bike and a 5km run. Please see course maps below below for details. Marshals will be there on the day, but it is utimately the competitors responsibility to know the course.

This race is part of the Irish Duathlon League 2006. The rules are as follows:

  • All duathlons on the TI Calendar in the season count.
  • Best 3 results to count, max 2 races from any particular club series.
  • Athletes Score = Race Points*(Athletes Time/Winners Time)
  • Men/Women’s times to be calculated based on respective men/women’s winning time
  • No Age-Group separation. No senior/junior/veteran separation. Overall times only
  • All races to be scored from 100 Race Points except Standard (10k/40k/5k) and Long Distance (10k/40k/10k) duathlons to get higher weightings of 150 race points.
  • Non-drafting races only
  • Rankings to be given to those who are TI Members on/before race day.

Race 1 Irish Champs Course Description

  • Run 1 (10K):- The first run will be a 3 laps around a flat loop in the Phoenix Park. The first lap will will 4.4km followed by 2 laps of 2.8km.

  • Cycle (40K):- The cycle course is of 10 laps on closed roads within the Phoenix Park.

  • Run 2 (5K):- Athletes complete 2 laps of the same course as covered for the first run, finishing slightly shorter on the second lap to make a 5km run.

Race 2: Super-Sprint (2.8/7.5/2)

The super-sprint will be a mass start event. The race will be a non-drafting event. It will be run on closed roads in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. It will consist of a 2.8km run (1 lap), a 7.5km bike (2 laps) and a 2km run (1 lap). Please see course maps below below for details. Marshals will be there on the day, but it is utimately the competitors responsibility to know the course.

Course Maps:

The course starts on Chesterfield Road, the main road in the Phoenix Park. If you are driving to the race please park either in the Papal Cross car park or on Chesterfield Avenue between the city gate and the Phoenix Monument (keeping off the grass).
